NHLDS Hosts Dr. Marta-Louise Ackers, CDC's Regional Associate Director for East Africa

NHLDS Quarters - 31 Aug 2023 The National Health Laboratory and Diagnostic Services (NHLDS) hosted Dr. Marta-Louise Ackers, CDC's Regional Associate Director for East Africa.

Dr. Marta Ackers is on a country visit to Uganda. Upon her arrival at Butabika, Dr. Ackers received a warm welcome from NHLDS Director, Dr. Susan Nabadda, and Laboratory Director; Dr. Isaac Ssewanyana accompanied by other senior and top management officials.

One of the highlights of the visit was a tour of NHLDS's cutting-edge laboratory facilities. Dr. Marta explored the state-of-the-art equipment and facilities that play a crucial role in Uganda's healthcare system.

Following the laboratory tour, Dr. Ackers engaged in a productive and insightful discussion with the NHLDS leadership team. The meeting aimed to explore ways in which CDC and NHLDS can continue to work together to advance public health initiatives in Uganda.

CDC and NHLDS share a long-standing partnership dedicated to the enhancement of healthcare systems in Uganda. This visit served as a testament to the commitment of both organizations to improving public health in Uganda and beyond.
