Continuous Professional Development (CPD/CME) resumes at CPHL

Mr. Obala Tony from COVAB Makerere University made a presentation titled, “Epidemic Bacterial Dysentery: the role of the Laboratory in its management” at CPHL Board room 4 on Friday 4th April 2014.

This was the beginning of weekly CPD/CME every Fridays at 9:00 -10 am aimed at empowering laboratory persons as they perform their duties. Presenters are selected during meetings that sit every Wednesday. Mr. Gaspard Guma and Mr. Atek Kagirita were among the 10 laboratory; technologists, technicians, assistants and laboratory scientists from; CPHL, Sickle cell unit and COVAB who attended the presentation.

The presentation explained details about Bacterial Dysentery and recommended the application of new techniques like RDTs. This arrangement is being promoted by the Microbiology laboratory and is aiming at widening the audience to include other MoH units, IPs, DLFPs among others.
