As a way to usher in the day, a prayer was first conducted then the day's activities began with a meeting chaired by the PS. Thereafter she commissioned the Liquid Nitrogen production plant and Lab equipment calibration centre that was followed by receiving of the UNHLS staff van from MAUL, handing over of Motorbikes to Hubs and crowned by graduation of the 4 Biosafety Cabinet certified Engineers. The PS promised to ensure HIV sensitization so as to increase on the suppression rate.

The Lab Technical Committee meeting chaired by Dr. Charles Olaro was a hot seating as the 5 National laboratory normative documents were presented for approval.

UNHLS in a joint effort with National Organisation of People Living with Hepatitis and Quality Chemicals, held a camp at Bugolobi market and tested 178 clients for Hepatitis B on Saturday 12/8/2017.

Today marks the end of 2 weeks mentorship for the 9 sites under A-LIS pilot scheduled to run for 6 months as the lab officials are left to explore the system in depth with routine supervisions by the UNHLS-HLIMS TWG. Following the two day meeting that began yesterday and chaired by the Lab Manager, Mr. Sewanyana Isaac, the CPHL/UNHLS management expressed their appreciation for the sustainability of quality standards from all the departments since accreditation and looking forward to resolving the concerns brought forward. As a message taken back home, the ED, Mr. Aisu Steven encouraged the staff to keep up with the spirit of teamwork, personal development and ensuring customer satisfaction.

The Viral load performance review meeting for division level that runs for 5 days began today with Nakawa Division and comprised of ART Manager, Lab.In-charge, Facility In-charge, Clinician or counselor, DMO, Bio-statistician and 2 representatives of HIV Partners. The same will apply to the participants from the other divisions.

It was such an amazing day as people matched around Makerere in creation of awareness of the viral infection that attacks the liver. The day was a success with joint force from our partners i.e UPDF, Uganda Police, UMC Victoria Hospital, Novik, Save your Liver Foundation Ug, MBN laboratories, AAR, Kimsy meds and Center for Private Health and social adjustment.Over 360 clients were tested for Hepatitis B at Makerere sports grounds and got to know their status. LETS RISE AGAINST THIS VIRUS

The two day Hepatitis B testing in the heart of the city brought awareness to many who had no clue of what the disease is all about and had 1228 clients test to know their status. We appreciate all people that turned up for the test and those that did not will have a chance on the World Hepatitis day. Thanks to CPHL/UNHLS, School of Biomedical Lab Sciences Makerere and Novik Hospital for the initiative to serve the nation for a better tomorrow. Together we shall kick out Hepatitis disease

Students of Kibuli Senior Secondary school have been tested for Hepatitis B and HIV. Counseling services were offered for awareness purposes so as to have virus free generation.

IPs and UNHLS top management met at Golden Tulip Canaan Hotel in Kampala yesterday to discuss issues concerning the Hub Sample transport system and came up with resolutions to challenges discussed.
