Following the previous viral load workshop in Mbarara, the team needed to review the VL training guidelines and finalize the IAC package. So the continuity of the activity was from 30th Oct to 3rd Nov 2017 at Royal Suites Bugolobi.

The Uganda Medical Laboratory Technology Association runs an annual scientific conference from Arua district with the theme "Laboratory Systems Strengthening for a Resilient Health System". The objective is to promote and maintain high standards of professionalism and excellence in Medical Laboratory Service delivery in Uganda and beyond. The conference began yesterday with presentations of the annual findings and projects from the UMLTA members. So many activities are being carried out with exhibition inclusive. as seen in the pictures below.

The GHSA conference was concluded by visiting specific facilities. The ministers toured the different sections, Labs and the Equipment calibration Centre within UNHLS.

As a fast evolving organisation, huge & sensitive data is being handled and assets managed. To ensure safety and security, policies need to be in place. UNHLS ICT department together with a team from Ministry of Health and CDC gathered in a workshop for 5 days(16th-20th Oct 2017) to develop policies governing the data, ICT assets and disaster recovery.

As a way to ensure a health community, we honored the invitation from Kansanga Catholic Parish on 15th Oct 2017 and tested 322 clients of whom 11 were positive. We wish to express sincere appreciation to our partners and community as we look forward to a virus free generation.

The day was opened with a word of prayer from Pr. Fred Wantaante and the congregation gave towards sickle cell. The State Minister for Health(GD), Hon. Sarah Opendi was honored to launch the National Bio-safety Bio-security Audit Report and Curriculum and then handed over motorbikes to Hubs for easy transportation of samples. As one of the achievements, the IT manager Mrs. Prossy Mbabazi announced that 92 out of 100hubs are able to download and print results after upload using the ERD(Electronic Results Dispatch) system which lowered the turn around time. The sickle cell clinics Health workers were recognized and given certificates for the great work done of sensitization ensuring that sickle cell patients are cared for.

As a way to uphold and promote quality, the GCLP(Good Clinical Laboratory Practice) training has been conducted for 3 days from 6th Oct 2017 at Jevine Hotel to ensure that all staff comply with the GCLP standards.
