As a way to ensure a health community, we honored the invitation from Kansanga Catholic Parish on 15th Oct 2017 and tested 322 clients of whom 11 were positive. We wish to express sincere appreciation to our partners and community as we look forward to a virus free generation.

The day was opened with a word of prayer from Pr. Fred Wantaante and the congregation gave towards sickle cell. The State Minister for Health(GD), Hon. Sarah Opendi was honored to launch the National Bio-safety Bio-security Audit Report and Curriculum and then handed over motorbikes to Hubs for easy transportation of samples. As one of the achievements, the IT manager Mrs. Prossy Mbabazi announced that 92 out of 100hubs are able to download and print results after upload using the ERD(Electronic Results Dispatch) system which lowered the turn around time. The sickle cell clinics Health workers were recognized and given certificates for the great work done of sensitization ensuring that sickle cell patients are cared for.

As a way to uphold and promote quality, the GCLP(Good Clinical Laboratory Practice) training has been conducted for 3 days from 6th Oct 2017 at Jevine Hotel to ensure that all staff comply with the GCLP standards.

The health caring team split into two groups yesterday and got clients tested for Hepatitis B from Butabika Hospital and the Primary school at St. James church. The teams had 103 and 330 people tested respectively. As we offered free services, the Novik group also brought services closer at a low cost to ensure that the clients with negative status get vaccinated.

Participants from 7 Karamoja hubs met at Akello Hotel in Soroti from 26th-29th Sept 2017 for VL/EID training. Due to suppression and rejection rates as per the dashboard, the region needed special attention and training to sensitize them on viral load/EID and sample transportation as follow up will be done.

Thousands flood Kololo Airstrip for the free yellow fever vaccination provided NMS(National Medical Stores) in partnership with Ministry of Health and Mulago as exhibitors display their works to the public. A number of health services were being offered and we had over 400 clients tested for Hepatitis B.

The proposed UNHLS Inventory management system has gathered together various teams from CDC, MAUL, CHAI, JMS, NMS and UNHLS(developers and logistics team) to collect and complete the requirements analysis and design stages of the system for easy development. The 5-days workshop comprise of understanding the various terminologies, tools used, creation of the process flow, requirements document and the design document that will enable the developers to create the system.

A team of experts are in Mbarara lake View Hotel for a week's workshop reviewing viral load Monitoring tools and SOPs so as to develop strategies and also improve Intensive Adherence Counselling.

Early during the day, the UMLTA president, Brenda Annet Mushabe held a meeting with Lab professionals and MOH officials to strengthen the lab sector and welcomed the incoming UNHLS Executive Director, Dr. Nabada Suzan with a bouquet of flowers into the Association.

As a means to reduce on turn-around-time and identify positive infants from the different entry points at a facility, the meeting involved Directors of RRHs, Medical Superintendents and Health facility Incharges from the 32 selected sites for the pilot using the 3 technologies(Alere Q, SAMBA II and GeneXpert).
