Finally the Laboratory Information System that was installed in facilities awaiting use, has been tested in Jinja, Masaka and Mubende referral hospitals. Lab technicians and clinicians were able to interact with the system and patients received reports generated by the system. The users appreciated and embraced the system. Soon A-LIS will be officially launched.

In an effort to aid the recently trained Lab SPARS supervisors with transport means, Uganda National Health Laboratory Services and Uganda Health Supply Chain organized a six days’ training in defensive riding for the Lab SPARS supervisors. The training began yesterday 15th – 20th, May 2017 at Garuga Motor Cross Track. The Defensive motorcycle riding course will be followed by a riding test conducted by an Inspector of Vehicles from the Police traffic unit.

In a convention at Namirembe Diocese yesterday, a team was able to carry out free sickle cell screening during the event from Cathedral gardens.

It was an honor to have Otto Lucy, the Principal social development officer family for Ministry of Gender Labour and social development tested with all other clients on such a day as we draw closer to the international family day for the ministry. It was a great turn up and we are looking forward to all people knowing their status and how to go about it.

There are various ways on how people try to treat and suppression diseases. So the sickle cell team from the UNHLS body decided to call Herbal researchers for a training so as to understand the Sickle cell disease and given psycho-social support and home management skills.

In every setting, people are aught to learn the basics in first aid as a means of saving lives. Today as a family, we were educated on how to administer first aid to various accidents that may occur in our environment. We appreciate the services offered by St. John ambulance

This was the best of all the trainings according to the participants. The sessions were so interactive and hands on that left participants yearning for more. All could not be tackled by the facilitators but at least the basics were shared in the two days.

As our strategy is to intensify external quality assurance, the District Lab Focal Persons are being oriented on the SLIPTA checklist and introduced to ISO 15189 of 2007 to 2012.

With the Lab SPARS roll out plan, there is an ongoing training for 22 supervisors from nine districts(Kayunga, Kamuli, Dokolo, Apac, Arua, Mbale, Masaka, Lwengo and Kyenjojo) at Hotel Paradise Nile Jinja in collaboration with MSH/UHSC that runs till 28th April 2017.
