With the number of people mobilized by LCIII Woman Councilor Butabika Parish Mrs. Ofwono Christine, over 200 have turned up for services. Hepatitis B, HIV and Cancer screening were the tests being cared out. With the help of the LC5 councilor Moses Okwera Mugisha, general counseling was rendered to the people. It was really thoughtful of beginning with the community surrounding us. Your health is our concern.

A team of Namibian Ministry of Health top management, have visited MOH Uganda. They have appreciated the MOH lab system especially, the Hub Sample Transport Network System which they are going to use as a benchmark to improve their Health System

Yesterday we received stool samples of two (2) patients from Palorinya Settlement in Moyo where Cholera infection is suspected. The two patients are: a female/32yrs and a Male/65yrs all from Tank 38 Zone III address. The samples are already being worked on and you will be informed when results are out.

Uganda National Health Laboratory Services (UNHLS), through the Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Surveillance Secretariat and support from the Infectious Disease Institute (IDI), organized the first ever meeting for the National Microbiology Laboratory Network (NMLN), on 17th, March 2017 in Kampala in which the 2016 data on AMR from the different facilities that perform antibiotic sensitivity testing was shared

A meeting held at Imperial Hotel that sensitized MPs on Sickle cell disease as an inherited condition. A brief on UNHLS/CPHL was given by the Head, Mr. Steven Aisu. The clinical aspects of Sickle cell disease were mentioned by Dr. Nsungwa Jesca which was followed by the sickle cell warriors(people living with the sickle cell disease) speaking out. The national survey , response of the Ministry and the key challenges were aired out by the National SCD coordinator, Mr. Kiyaga Charles. Ways forward were suggested by Members of Parliament who are ready for the sickle cell run.

A visit that commenced with a brief meeting was chaired by the PS Dr Diana Atwiine who was so honored to announce to the nation another great milestone achievement registered by our health laboratory sub-sector. The International Accreditation of the Early Infant HIV Diagnosis (EID) and Viral load testing Laboratory at National Health Services in Butabika. This facility which tests specimens from all districts in Uganda has been accredited by the South African National Accreditation System (SANAS) for the next four years from 2nd Feb 2017 till 1st Feb 2021.

We received two stool samples towards weekend from Panyimur HC III and another 2 came later from Parombo HC III (all from Nebbi district). All samples do not have pathogens ie 'No Pathogens Isolated" as summarized below. The Facilities have been notified through the Nebbi DLFP Mr Odongo Richard.

We are grateful for all services provided by health centers (Crown Health Care, Makerere University Medical School OBS/GYN Dept Mulago, China friendship Hospital Naguru, Rubaga Hospital, Kampala Medical Chambers, Kampala West Clinic-Rubaga, Pearl Medical Centre Kansanga, Naguru Teenage Centre, Kibuli Hospital, Pearl Medical Centre, Microhaem Systems Limited and Family Comfort), Pauma Productions for the entertainment and the meals. With the overwhelming numbers, it was a pleasure having women and adolescent girls offered free services on such a great day

A meeting held at UNHLS for hubs in karamoja region that discussed sample transport and pathology service provision challenges faced. Commitment/action plan for service, fuel and safety of new and old motorbikes were discussed and the way forward.
